Hyundai secures the largest private-sector automotive deal in Kenya in the last decade

Hyundai has reached a significant milestone in Kenya by delivering 69 Hyundai Tucson units to Vivo Energy Kenya for its sales team, marking the largest private-sector automotive deal in the country over the past decade. This transaction strengthens Hyundai’s presence in the Kenyan market, highlighting its innovation and reliability.

The agreement involved several key entities:
• RentWorks East Africa: Facilitated the vehicle leasing for 48 months.
• Caetano Kenya: Responsible for vehicle maintenance.
• Stanbic Bank: Financier of the transaction.
• Heritage Insurance: Fleet insurer.

This deal takes place in a challenging market, characterized by high import taxes, inflation, and a dominance of imported second-hand vehicles. Despite these challenges, Hyundai and its partners structured an efficient solution tailored to Vivo Energy Kenya’s needs.

The official vehicle handover ceremony symbolized the commitment of all involved entities to enhancing Vivo Energy Kenya’s operational efficiency. This agreement consolidates Hyundai’s position in the Kenyan market and demonstrates the importance of strategic partnerships in driving growth in the automotive sector.
